SURFCAM Sees Success Under Vero’s Leadership
Following the acquisition by Vero Software on February 6, 2013, SURFCAM has undergone a significant transformation! Starting with an immediate rebranding under the Vero name, including a new web & social sites, email addresses, and marketing campaign, SURFCAM moved to its new offices in Thousand Oaks, CA. The new headquarters includes a complete upgrade of new servers and virtual machines to support the Vero business systems and future web-based training technology.
Soon after the acquisition, SURFCAM attended its first annual Vero Reseller Meeting in Scottsdale, AZ and continues to be at the forefront of the metalworking industry by attending trade shows such as HaasTec, Houstex, Eastec, to name a few.
Expanding Sales and the Global Footprint is a Key Initiative:
Gretchen Payne joined SURFCAM’s Direct Sales Team, where she will manage the Northwest and Southwest Direct Sales territories. Gretchen’s previous experiences include working for Universal Parametrics since 2005 as a CAD/CAM software sales representative.
In addition, SURFCAM has recently added a new South Korean reseller to the Reseller Network, AdMill Tech, which will provide support to both the industrial and educational end-users in that important manufacturing market.
SURFCAM Software and Product:
The May 2013 release of SURFCAM 6 R2 has been a great success based on the feedback from the user community. R2 was the first release of SURFCAM software under the direction of Vero software which was delivered a short 3 months after the acquisition. SURFCAM continues with an aggressive development plan committing to having 2 releases of SURFCAM a year. Coming along with the next release will be the new web-based Customer Portal where customers will be able to manage and control their system licenses. SURFCAM will also be adding a brand new 3D Solid Modeling package this year to its product suite. Part Modeler is a cad tool specifically designed for quick and simple construction and modification of solid models with fully associative drafting capabilities.
To guide future product development, a steering committee held its initial meeting in Atlanta this year as well. The committee comprises a group of resellers who agree the direction and content of the product roadmap. The first meeting took place in June 2013, resulting in setting the direction and determining the content for SURFCAM 2014 R1 to be released in October 2013.
A key addition to SURFCAM’s development team is John Buehler, who joined the team on August 1st as the SURFCAM Product Manager. Graduating in 1984 with a degree in Computer Graphics Technology from Alfred State College, Buehler has worked in sales, development and product management for Computervision, MegaSystems and CADLab. For the past six years Buehler has been committed to the development of SURFCAM, working as an independent consultant in a variety of areas of product development including data exchange, user interface, APT Code and some various add-on functionalities.
